“Bumby Ride” my pick for the month of December – I really feel this song is going to be a big hit.  You may not have heard of Mohombi just yet.

He has a really interesting background, born August 28, 1986 & raised in the Congo.  He was exposed to a variety of musical influences early in his life.  He formed a boy band in Stockholm, Sweden with his brother, a local club DJ.  They sold half a million albums, won an African Grammy and performed with Ginuwine & Ludacris

Mohombi’s debut single, “Bumpy Ride” is the first release on RedOne’s label 2010 Records .  It was released in the US on Aug 24, 2010.   Mohombi also released “Miss Me”, as his debut single in the United Kingdom on Oct. 31, 2010.   It features rapper Nelly.   His third single, “Dirty Situation” was released in Europe on November 11th and features R&B singer, Akon.  Mohombi’s debut album, Movemeant is scheduled to be released in 2011 – watch for it!

Flo Rida

Born in Florida on Sept. 17, 1979, Tramar Dillard – we all know him as Flo Rida .  His first solo debut album was called Mail on Sunday.  The album’s first single “Low” featuring T-Pain, was a #1 hit for 10 weeks in the US, the early part of 2008.  “Low” was also featured in the Movie Step Up 2, The Streets.   I’m happy to say it’s still a big dance hit with DJs everywhere and always seems to bring people to the dance floor.    Flo Rida actually had 2 other singles off that album.  In 2009, the album R.O.O.T.S was released and “Right Round” was the big hit single, making the Hot 100 for six weeks.  “The Club Can’t Handle Me” was the big track for the hit movie, Step Up 3D.  This month look for the new CD from Flo Rida titled:  Only One Flo – Part 1”.  My favorite track is “Turn Around (5-4-3-2-1)”– take a listen, hope you like it!  Hope it entices you to the dance floor.

Rihanna was just 15 years old when she was discovered in Barbados.    Producer, Evan Rogers was actually on vacation and overheard Rihanna harmonizing with some friends.  Rogers felt she was definitely star material.  Shortly after the 2 met, Rihanna moved to the States.  Once she recorded a demo with Rogers, she landed a record deal with Def Jam.  It was 2005 when she released her first album.  Her 2nd album came out in 2006 and a third in 2007.  She’s become quite the star and a music icon.  This is Rihanna’s new Hit single.

In 2001 Josh Turner was fairly unknown.  He was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry by Vince Gill on October 27, 2007.   He is the second youngest member, after Carrie Underwood.

He’s from Hannah, S.C., married & has 2 boys.  I read about him in a recent interview, “For me, it is icing on the cake,” he says of his success.  My biggest goal in life when I was growing up was to find the right woman to marry and get a record deal. I’ve accomplished both of those things, so regardless of what happens beyond that, I’m happy.”

Katy Perry

Katy was ranked the 97th artist of the 2000-10 decade by Billboard.  2008 is when she really became noticed with her single “I Kissed A Girl”.  The following year she produced an album titled “One Of the Boys”.  “Hot n Cold” and “I Kissed A Girl” both received “multi-platinum certifications”.   This summer “California Gurls” was a really hot single and one of the most requested songs everywhere.  She just released the album titled “Teenage Dream” & on Aug. 24th in the US & Canada and it was released worldwide on Aug. 30th; debuting at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

I wanted to highlight Auburn, as this month’s featured artist.  She’s definitely an R&B rising star.   She recently reached a huge career milestone and released her first radio single:  La La La,   I read about the background of the song  “Auburn vents her frustration with a clingy, insecure man – played by pop hitmaker I.Y.A.Z., who contributes background vocals throughout the track.”  Stay tuned for Auburn’s debut studio album, which has yet to receive a title or release date.   I think it’s really catchy, isn’t being played every 15 minutes on the radio just yet – so we’ll see where it goes, once the radio stations give it some airtime.

Mike Posner & Big Sean

Mike Posner actually appeared on Lopez Tonight back on May 31st.  His debut album, “31 Minutes To Takeoff” is set to be released in 25 days (Aug. 10th).  He’ll be performing all 42 dates of the 2010 Warped Tour this summer.  The first single from the album (Cooler Than Me), as of July 3rd, had climbed the Billboard Hot 100 to reach No. 6.

 The women loved him, he was a crooner… but also a great comedian and actor.  He actually made 16 films between 1949 and 1956, partnering with Jerry Lewis as the “singing straight man”.  ”Everybody Loves Somebody” and ”That’s Amore” were probably his biggest hits.  He was part of Frank Sinatra’s “Rat Pack”  I knew him as an actor, singer and comedian, but learned he was also  a tennis pro; what I didn’t remember was that he died in a California Air National Guard plane crash back in 1987.  He was an icon that will always be remembered.

35 year old Enrique Miguel Iglesias Preysler was born in Madrid, Spain & is the 3rd child of well-known singer Julio Iglesias. He’s a talented song writer, producer and actor. He’s also a humanitarian; recently he donated the song “It Must Be Love” to raise funds for the victims of the 2010 Haiti earthquake. Also, on February 1 Enrique recorded the re-make of “We Are the World” with other music artists. The song & video premiered on February 12 at the Opening of the Winter Olympics and proceeds from that song also went to help victims of the earthquake in Haiti.

Enrique was the winner for two World Music Awards in the categories of “World’s Best Selling Latin Performer” and “World’s Best Selling Spanish Artist”, in a ceremony held in Monaco on November 9, 2008.

He’s just finishing “Euphoria”, a new bi-lingual album – it’s set to be released in July. It’s half in English & half in Spanish, and he wrote most of the songs. One of my favorites is “Be With You”, but his new song with Pitbull is fast becoming another favorite of mine.
