Katy was ranked the 97th artist of the 2000-10 decade by Billboard.  2008 is when she really became noticed with her single “I Kissed A Girl”.  The following year she produced an album titled “One Of the Boys”.  “Hot n Cold” and “I Kissed A Girl” both received “multi-platinum certifications”.   This summer “California Gurls” was a really hot single and one of the most requested songs everywhere.  She just released the album titled “Teenage Dream” & on Aug. 24th in the US & Canada and it was released worldwide on Aug. 30th; debuting at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

I wanted to highlight Auburn, as this month’s featured artist.  She’s definitely an R&B rising star.   She recently reached a huge career milestone and released her first radio single:  La La La,   I read about the background of the song  “Auburn vents her frustration with a clingy, insecure man – played by pop hitmaker I.Y.A.Z., who contributes background vocals throughout the track.”  Stay tuned for Auburn’s debut studio album, which has yet to receive a title or release date.   I think it’s really catchy, isn’t being played every 15 minutes on the radio just yet – so we’ll see where it goes, once the radio stations give it some airtime.

some day my Prince will come...

It was a picture perfect Friday evening at Turner Hill Mansion for Amy & Tim.  It’s a breathtaking, unique location on the north shore.  I had the pleasure of performing their ceremony at a separate garden area.  They chose to have their introductions, first dance and dinner under the tent and cocktail hour, parent dances and the rest of the reception inside the Elizabethan-style mansion.

Tim arrived in cool style on his Harley Davidson and the rest of the wedding party came in antique cars. 

Friends and family gathered together and were awe-struck from the moment they stepped through the doors of this distinguished mansion.

There were candles & roses everywhere creating an extremely romantic ambience.

The groom’s mom made the beautiful wedding cake.  It was a spectacular night from start to finish.

Amanda & Scott Fournier had a perfect evening for their wedding at Pat’s Peak on July 17th.  It was sunny & hot, but everyone was more than happy to sit outside overlooking the mountain for their 6:30 PM ceremony.  I had the honor of performing their ceremony.  Amanda and Scott took the time to write a beautiful poem about their relationship.  We all felt Amanda’s Dad, John, was looking down from heaven; her cousin played her Dad’s guitar for her bridal entrance.  Amanda chose a unique processional song for her bridesmaids:  “My Best Friend”, by Queen – Amanda and her Dad loved the band Queen.   Chelsea & her staff did a phenomenal job, as usual.   All 140 family & friends danced the entire night, non-stop & sang to almost every song – it felt like we were at a club in New York.  It was truly a PARTY from start to finish.  Great dance music requests ranged from Chubby Checker to Taio Cruz & Kesha.  We had a blast with you Amanda & Scott and hope you had a great honeymoon in St. Lucia.  Hope to see you at another event in the near future!

Mike Posner & Big Sean

Mike Posner actually appeared on Lopez Tonight back on May 31st.  His debut album, “31 Minutes To Takeoff” is set to be released in 25 days (Aug. 10th).  He’ll be performing all 42 dates of the 2010 Warped Tour this summer.  The first single from the album (Cooler Than Me), as of July 3rd, had climbed the Billboard Hot 100 to reach No. 6.

Unique touches can often create “something to talk about” -  wine lovers are using wine bottles and decanters as centerpieces.

With so many people considering the environment, going green is very popular.  It’s fairly easy to bring the outdoors inside.  There are lots of natural items you can use:  branches, twigs, leaves, pinecones, & even rocks/stones.  All these items can be used to surround pillar candles or can be placed in antique containers.  There are lots of websites available to help with green wedding ideas.

Hand tied bouquets are still extremely popular.  A fresh bunch of flowers gathered and wrapped in wide satin ribbon always looks elegant.  Many brides are further customizing by adding pins, crystal picks and even broaches & family heirlooms.

Different shapes are beginning to emerge, arrangements with an unstructured look are replacing the traditional tightly bound bouquets.  If you opt for a looser arrangement, flowers like amaranthus, orchids & lilies (to name a few) work very well.  We’re even seeing add in touches like crystals, feathers, & berries

Navy was one of the hottest colors in 2009 – many brides area incorporating flowers that have a dark tone deep blue violets, white roses can be dyed any color.  We’ve seen bold navy paired with ivory & even navy with yellow.

We had the pleasure of DJing for Junie and Allie’s high school graduation party at Anthony’s in Malden, MA on June 19th.

They’re cousins and celebrated this accomplishment together.    Junie & Allie had their friends and family with them for a night of celebration, great food and dancing.  Bob went to school with Allie’s Aunt Doris years ago and recently we’ve found Doris on Facebook.  She was kind enough to refer our DJ service to her relatives and we had a blast.  Bob re-connected with lots of other high school friends during the evening and everyone had a great time.

Junie is off to college for nursing and Allie is going to college and plans to continue to play softball & do something with sports!  

Here’s to a fantastic future that lies ahead for you Junie & Allie !

June 26th – a beautiful sunny warm evening was the backdrop for Christy & Justin as they shared their vows at the Rochester Country Club.  The colors were red, white and black and roses were everywhere.  The reception was like a party at a Boston nightclub – 80% of their guests were in their 20′s.  Bob was in his element, as he seamlessly beat mixed one song into the next - to create the  perfect energy & mood!   The LED lighting on the dance floor enhanced the ambience and added even more excitement.  We had a blast watching everyone party all night long.  We had the pleasure of working with Josh and his staff; Josh is fairly new to the country club and is very excited about his new assignment.  We are grateful to our good friend Ernie Osborne of Acclaim Photography for referring our DJ service to Christy & Justin.  We wish you many years of happiness Christy & Justin
